Floretta is my Great Great Grandmother through her first husband, Herbert Reed. She married Francis Marion Brooks in August of 1875 in Richland county, IL. I do not have a marriage certificate yet, but it is on the IRAD database of Illinois marriages.

She and Herbert Reed divorced sometime between 1871, when their third child, Eva Jane Reed was born, and when Herbert remarried in April of 1875. Herbert took the two older children (Anna and Victor) to Effingham, and left Eva Jane (my great grandmother) with Floretta.

Floretta was actually born in Shelby County, IN. Her father is Samuel Sandifer and her mother Nancy Emily Robins.

Samuel Sandifer's father was Samuel Sandifer, also of Shelby COunty IN.

Nancy Emily Robins was the youngest child of Philip Robbins (born in PA) and Nancy Boyd (born in Paris KY). Nancy Emily's oldest brother was a prominent physician in Southern Indiana, Milton Robins.

Philip Robbins father was John, born in NJ. The name may have been Robinson there, but I am still searching.

I have found FLoretta's name in records as Flarette Sandefur and FLoretta Sandefur. And even FLorette Sandford!

ANy info you have will be appreciated. I am searching for the reason for the divorce, as well as supposed Cherokee ancestry.
