Pat, Maybewe were originally Sandilands. All I know is that we are of Scots ancestry, the name appears to have Scandinavian roots, not surprising considerind the Vikings did indeed leave their mark on Scotland, and that the first of our line was here by 1654 and spelled the name SANDERLIN. In our family lore there is no mention of Sandilands. Maybe we just didn't know.
