My gg-grandmother was Prudence Samuel, daughter of Fielding Samuel and Mary White. She married Richard Henry Burden. They moved from Clay Co. MO in the 1870s to Madison Co. AR. In 1892 they moved to Indian Territory, now Oklahoma, along with the families of their three children. My great grandparents were Richard Henry Lee Burden and Arie Calico. My grandmother, Stella Blackburn Burden was born in Madison Co. AR at Clifty in 1888. In a book I read on the James family, there was mention of an Adelaide Samuel, sister to Prudence, who was supposed to have come to Oklahoma with Prudence and Richard. I have the 1900 and 1910 census records for Prudence and Richard and there is no Adelaide listed. Do you have any info on Adelaide Samuel? Prudence and Richard are buried at Mount Zion Cemetery, Macomb, Pottawatomie Co. OK. Their son Richard Henry Lee Burden (my great-grandfather)and their daughter and son-in-law, Anna and George W. Cobb, are also buried in the same cemetery. My great-grandmother, Arie Calico died in 1962, almost 50 years after my great-grandfather and she wanted to be buried at Prairie View Cemetery which was located on the land that joined the Burden farm. Mount Zion Cemetery was very difficult to get to and no one had been buried there in over 30 years.
