Hello Beryl,
My Thomas Sams married Mary Gardner at St Mary's, Marylebone Rd, London July 17 1788. Thomas is mentioned in "British Sculptors 1660-1857", by Rupert Gunnis. I beleive his father was James Sams but have not been able to prove it.
They both lived in Down St Piccadilly where Thomas had his yard. Thomas and Mary's son William Gardner Sams, from whom I am descended, came to Australia in 1825.
He had siblings who probably went to other parts of the world. His two sisters, Lucy and Jane Ladler Sams also came to Australia.
If you can connect to them in any way please let me know.
