Thomas and Jane Brock, residents of Haberham Co. until Thomas' death in the 1850's, had several children: Thomas Brock Jr., Sarah, Jane, Malinda, Lucinda, and--many of us believe--Louise. Sarah married Samuel G. Sarrett/Surratt/etc. 10 Nov. 1831, Habersham Co. GA Jane married William Ferguson 23 Jul. 1835, Habersham Co. GA Louise married James H. Sampson 5 Jan. 1843, Habersham Co. GA Malinda married Hammel Duckett 11 Jan. 1844, Habersham Co. GA Lucinda married Jesse Hulsey ca. 1847. Current theory, which I agree with, is that James H. Sampson was son of Thomas and Catherine Samson/Sampson who were in Habersham Co. in 1840 and in Walker Co. GA in 1850. James and Louise, however, remained in Habersham Co. until the 1850's. In the 1850 census, they were near neighbors of Thomas and Jane Brock (James' theoretical parents-in-law) and Samuel G. and Sarah Sarrett, (James' theoretical brother- and sister-in-law). In 1850, Samuel G. and Sara Sarrett had the following children: --N.J. (15 yrs, female) --L.E. (13 yrs, female) --M.M. (11 yrs, female) --A.J. (9 yrs, male) --T.G.W. (7 yrs, male) --J.J.M. (5 yrs, male) --J.H.C. (2 yrs, male) In 1850, over in East Chickamauga District of Walker Co., Thomas and Catherine Samson's household had the following children: --Elizabeth E. (26 yrs) --Thomas D. (21 yrs) --George W. (18 yrs) --Margaret C. (15 yrs) --Francis M. (12 yrs) --Sarah M. (8 yrs) (Son Philip and family next door) By 1860, Thomas Sampson Sr. was dead, and Widow Catherine Sampson was living in East Armuchee District, Walker Co., GA: Samson, Catherine (62 yrs) Samson, Francis M. (22 yrs, male) A few doors away, Thomas and Catherine's son, Thomas D. Sampson was living with wife and daughter: Samson, T.D. (30 yrs, male) Samson, Nancy J. (25 yrs) Samson, Mary E. (8/12 yr) Meanwhile, also in 1860 East Armuchee District, Walker Co., GA census, we find Samuel G. & Sarah Surratt and kids: --Lucinda E. (23 yrs) --Maryann M. (20 yrs) --Samuel A.J. (17 yrs) --Thomas G.W. (15 yrs) --James J.M. (14 yrs) --John H.C. (11 yrs) Moving forward in time, to 1870, we find Samuel G. and Sarah Sarrett in Subdivision 145 of Walker Co., GA with: Sarrett, Andrew J. (27 yrs) Sarrett, Thomas G.W. (25 yrs) Sarrett, James M. (23 yrs) Sarrett, John H. (21 yrs) Sampson, Mary E.J. (10 yrs) Thomas J. Sampson Jr. and wife Nancy Sampson and daughter Mary E. are nowhere to be found together in the 1870 census. In 1870 Georgia census, Walker Co., Subdivision 145, Rock Spring P.O., Francis Sampson and family is listed as follows: Sampson, Francis (32 yrs., male) Sampson, Lucinda E. (32 yrs) Sampson, Thomas J. (3 yrs) Sampson, Millard G. (8/12 yr) Sampson, Catherine (73 yrs) Sampson, John (16 yrs) Moving forward in time again, in 1880, Samuel G. and Sarah Sarrett are in Trickum District, Whitfield Co., GA with the following household members: Sarrett, Samuel G. 84 yrs Sarrett, Sarah 70 yrs, wife Sarrett, James M. 34 yrs, son Sarrett, John H. 32 yrs, son Sarrett, Mary E. 20 yrs, granddaughter Sarrett, Dona E. 8 yrs, granddaughter Next door is F.M. and Georgia Sampson and family: Sampson, F.M. 42 yrs, male Sampson, Georgia A. 27 yrs, wife Sampson, Thos. J. 12 yrs, son Sampson, Millard G. 10 yrs, son Sampson, A.J.A. 6 yrs, son Sampson, Cora A. 5 yrs, daughter Sampson, Eugene F. 4 yrs, son Now it's time for theory: (a) Thomas D. Sampson, son of Thomas and Catherine Sampson married Nancy J. Sarrett, daughter of Samuel G. and Sarah Sarrett. (b) Mary E. Sampson, daughter of Thomas and Nancy J. (Sarrett) Sampson, was Samuel G. and Sarah Sarrett's grandaughter and was living with them in 1870 and 1880, which tells me that her parents died sometime between 1860 and 1870. (c) Thomas D.'s brother, Francis M., son of Thomas and Catherine Sampson married Lucinda E. Sarrett, daughter of Samuel G. and Sarah Sarrett and sister of Thomas D.'s wife, Nancy J. (d) Children of Francis M. and Lucinda E. (Sarrett) Sampson were: Thomas J. and Millard G. Sampson. (e) Children of Francis M. Sampson and his second wife, Georgia A., were: A.J.A. Sampson, Cora A., and Eugene F. Sampson. (f) I have no idea who Dona E. Sampson's parents were. Notify Administrator about this message?
