Source: Marion Daily Chronicle - Wed.17 March 1948 - Page 2 - Column 2 JAMES SAMPLE SERVICES SET Funeral Services for James Preston Sample, seventy-six, who died late Tuesday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. R.C. Parks, 2303 West Eighth Street, will be held at 2 PM Friday at the West Eighth Street Wesleyan Methodist church. Rev. Herbert Logsdon, pastor, will officiate, and burial will be in Matlock cemetery, Wabash. Mr. Sample had been ill for one year. He formerly was employed at the Marion Malleable Iron Works, and was a resident of Marion for the past 35 years. Survivors, in addition to the daugter at whose home he died, include two other daughters, Mrs Harry Percy, Marion, and one Mrs. Jess Ruble, Battle Creek, Mich,;four sons, Joseph and Frank, Marion;Glen, Fort Wayne, and Jack Elhart;one sister, Mrs Amanda Engleman, Wabash;38 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.The body was taken to 504 West Third street, where it will remain until time for rites.
