the Sammons line I descend from goes back to James b. 1794,
married to Abigail Parker. He fought in the War of 1812.He grew up in Green Township, Hamilton county, Ohio. His father was John Isaac Sammons b. in Virginia, m. to Hannah b. in New York d. 9-9-1857 in Green Township.John fought in the "Indian Wars"
James' brother, William and wife Jane relocated to Adams county ILL, as did his sister Sarah and her husband Charles Demoss. Another sister, Elizabeth married Jacob Schotts and moved to IN. 3 sisters married 3 Markland brothers.Another sister,Hannah, married Jacob ? and moved to rockingfield, Iowa. There's plenty more, because one of James' daughter's, Cynthia Parker b. 5-2-1823, d.3-12-1900, married Alexander Long. Alexander wrote his autobiography and his wife's biography in beautiful longhand script in 1859. It is preserved in the Alexander Long collection at the Cincinnati Historical Society. I have copies.
Any way, I have not been able to find any thing out further back than John Isaac Sammons and Hannah.I have some interesting cesus record, but no solid connection. The family lore is that they were Scotch-Dutch. They were Presbytarian.
