Michael,
I just chuckled as I read your message. I just posted a message 5 minutes ago regarding Sammons/Salmon being derived from King Solomon. You might want to check the message out. (:

I would love a copy of the Sammons history that you have. I will gladly give you my address. I will send in return a copy of my family's crest. (see my posted message)My father corresponded with a Judge M. Sammons from Texas, back in 1976regarding general history of the Sammonses. In the one letter from the judge he states that one branch of the 'family' in Virginia owned a plantation and slaves during the 1800's.The letter has vanished someplace in this house, and I will find it again. It was very interesting.

It was very interesting.I have found locally, here in Philadelphia, that there are a good number of African-American Sammonses. Many are mixed blood Native Americans from PA/NJ/DE and belong to the Lenni Lenape nation. I had done some 'geneological research' one day by opening the white pages and calling all the 'Sammons' listings. I spoke with a black gentleman who informed me that 'we probably aren't related' and that most of the black Sammonses were slaves who married into the Lenape tribes. This struck me as odd. Later, I investigated his claims, and found they were true.
