Heelo
I have very little info about my father's family who lived in Columbia,PA-my grandfather'name was Frederick Paul salzman, he had bothers named William, and Leo -i have beenstumped finding anything previous. my father was William Leo Salzman(named after the afore mentioned Leo.)my father was born 1923-died 1972.almost everyone in his immediate family is gone except one brother.robert salzman. the only info i have ever had or heard was that the family originated in the Area that was Prussia. we have in our possession, and old "mustering out"(that is what they called it)book from one of the ancestors days in the Prussian Guard-family tried to have it translate many years ago by a german teach but it is very antiquted and is -i believ written in old High German-no longer spoken-mother did not want to let it out of our hand due to the age of it and fragility-it obviously cannot be replaced it is small and leather -bound. i think the name was Josef or Jacob and the name was sp[elled either Saltzmann or Saltzman.
i have seen listings of a Peter and a Franz Saltzman from Maric township in Lancaster county in 17oo's... i do not know if they are realted -but because of close Proximity to Columbia-perhaps they are. thank you for any info you may have!!
