I am discended from a Salter family with Alabama ties. I haven't found any direct relation but I am familiar with the Salter family around Burnt Corn and Evergreen Alabama. I would suggest you go to Samford University Library at Birmingham and view the writings and notes on the Salter family of that area by Vernon Brantley. He is now deseased but the information may be helpful.
