As far as I can tell from the tax rolls, the original Salsgiver in Indiana County was George Saltsgiver who arrived about 1820 and settled in Mahoning Twp.I believe, but have not yet proven, that he was born 1774 in Berks County and went first to Centre Co.He had children Salme (b. 1793), George (b. 1795), James (b. abt 1800), and Jacob (b. 1801).George and James stayed in Indiana Co.James had children Margaret, Sarah, Martha, and William. To my knowledge, neither Jacob, James, nor William had children named Lavina; which leaves George (Jr).I do not have a record of George's children, but in the 1830 census he is shown with a wife and seven children, two of whom are males 5-10 who could have been the father ofa child born in 1845.
I would suggest checking the 1850 census in Indiana County as a starter.Good Luck.
