Lynn, I am researching the Shelton,Salmon,Davis,Nelson,Taylor,Weir,Crews,Parsons,Blair,Hughes,Irving,Coleman,Carlile,Hinton,Ricketts,Hagler,Parker surnames of N.C. Va. and Tn. I recently had a male Nelson relative do the YDNA test and the surname Huber came up as a match for my Ydna. I am looking for a John Nelson b.1780-1830 Va. or N.C. married to a Julia Ann Shelton b.1823 in Rowan Co.,N.C.I believe that her parents were Henry R.Shelton( son of Vincent abd Susannah Robertson from Pitts. Co.,Va.) and Elizabeth L. Morgan.
John and Julia Nelson did not live in N.C. but they later returned to Rowan Co.,N.C. when their son was born in Aug.1851. That son was William Columbus Nelson my g.grandfather. John and Julia both were dead by 1860 and William was raised by an uncle ,I believe in Tn. He married a Sarah McHargue in Green Co.,Tn. abt 1872 and had 2 or 3 children there before Sarah's death about 1902.Wm. later returned to Davie /Rowan Co.,N.C. in 1900s and married my G.grandmother Cora Holliman Motley in 1914. They had several more children. Wm died in 1935. Would you check and see if these names might relate to your line?
