Hi Christina
My great grandfather Charles (Witty) Sallis was born in Dumbleton Gloucestershire on December 17 1860. According to the 1861 Census his siblings were Amelia (10), Pamela Maria (4) Oliver Frances (2). 1871 Shows 2 brothers Frank (12) don't know where he appeared from as he is 2 years older than Charles and John aged 7.
There are later Charleses and if yours was born in Dumbleton or nearby Beckton there is a good chance they were related. They are descended from Joseph Sallis and Ann Berrick who married on Christmas Day 1800 in Dumbleton.
Hope this helps
Good luck
Roger Barton (New Zealand)
