I made a trip to the Family Life Center here and looked up the 1880 census record for James Sallings. Here's the info:
James Sallings 39 born MO
Susan Sallings 30 born AR Wife
William 9 born AR Son
Laura 5 born AR Daughter
Zenobia 3 born AR Daughter
James F. 9/12 born AR Son b.Sept 1879
Additional Information is the James Sallings parents, mom and dad, were born in Tenn
Susan Cox Sallings parents were born in KY
Something interesting here is that for years we referred to Laura as Ellie. Does you husband remember his Aunt Ellie Thomas? She lived in Walnut Ridge, AR all her life and is buried in Lawrence Memorial Park. She was married to a Yates and later to John Thomas.
We never knew that her real name was Laura and for once I see my g grandmother's real name listed, (Zenobia).
My father was raised by my g grandmother, Zenobia, and he can remember her talking about a brother that they called "Bud". He was older than her and I am now sure that he was William. I have no idea what happened to him and James F. We never heard anything about James F. He must have died young.
