The book, titled “A History of the Salley Family”, 1690-1965, by Olin J. Salley has Rebecca Marcilla Salley listed. She was the daughter of John Henry Salley (b. April 28, 1795 – d. January 1, 1877) in Orangeburg District, South Carolina, and his wife Eleanor Jones (b. February 10, 1796 – d. February 29, 1865).

John Henry Salley was the third son of Henry Salley, Jr., who (born in Switzerland in 1723) settled in the Orangeburg Township District located on the North Edisto River in July, 1735.

In 1837 John Henry Salley sold his property in Orangeburg District and moved the family to Carroll County, Mississippi.

August 21, 1838, Rebecca Marcilla Salley (b. May 26, 1821) married Jacob J. Jordan. They had six children; Daniel, George, Bill, John, Alonzo and Jacob.
