I am seeking information on the English origins of Captain Sylvester Salisbury who commanded the garrison at Albany New York after the English conquest of New Netherlands from the Dutch. All of the information that I have been able to gather is that he was born about 1629 in England or Wales. He was the progenitor of a substantial line of Salisburys in the Hudson valley from Albany to New York City. Captain Sylvester is my direct ancestor, 10 generations removed.
