Dear Anna:

I (think strongly) that I detect a few mistakes in your reply. The husband I have listed for Lucia is Juan Jose Salinas, born 1867. Your date for their marriage is correct. Lucia's father is Fermin, born 1853. Fermin's wife is Juana Gomez, born 1852. Andrea is listed in several 1800's Federal Census's as one of their daughter's. Lucia was born in 1872. Eliseo, Sr. was born in 1887...their first child...and who is my grandfather. He married my Grand-mother Maria Guadalupe de la Luz Cuellar de Linares, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Juan Jose's father was Juan Nepomucino Salinas, born 1835 en Mexico. One of Fermin's and Juana's daughter's died young, according to the Census result's. Eliseo, Sr. died in 1938. Maria de la Luz died in 1963 on 5 January. I strive so hard to find Lucia's gravesite. Now, I am suspecting they may lie in our very old Salinas plot at the Guadalupe Cemetery in Pharr on West Juarez Street. There are three gravesites there that I have never been able to read. Oh, Anna, where is Andrea buried and upon which date did she pass? Again, I thank you. I remain,

Very sincerely yours,

PS...We left La Valle on a Mexican Migrant Labor contract in 1965, built up a "grubstake", my mother and siblings stayed behind...and in very late 1965 I hitch-hiked back to Harlingen and joined the Marine Corps. My brother Wendell became a prominent surgeon in the Napa Valley and now employee's 7 other surgeons. Me: After 27 months in Vietnam, 12 medals, twice wounded...I became a career Wildlife Biologist all over the western states and now live in Portland, Oregon...but I miss still La Valle and my gavacho and gavacha friends of my youth. God Bless you, Anna.
