This is a memorium to Seaman First Class SIJIFREDO SALINAS of Pharr, Hidalgo, County, Texas, son of Eliseo Salinas and Maria de la Luz Cuellar-Salinas, and brother to Eliseo "Cheo" Salinas, all of Pharr. Sijifredo was wounded, from a Japanese "Kamikaze" on 27 September, 1944 and was mortally wounded (KIA) on 9 January, 1945 by another "Kamakaze" while at his gunnery mount aboard the battleship USS COLORADO. His body was buried at sea that afternoon with 18 others. He is decended from the Salinas families of Brownsville, Cameron County, Texas. He died too young. God, but I wish that I had known him.

God Bless you all. Thank you. I remain,

Very sincerely yours,

Verle E. Cuellar-Salinas-Wenneker
