Tom, I finally got the microfilm with the Caroline County Order Books from 1741-1763. I checked the order book entries for Anthony Sale's Lease and Release from Thomas and Catherine Price. The confusion in Dorman is that Thomas and Catherine Price sold land to both Anthony and his brother, James Sale. There are two entries, one for Anthony and one right below it for James Sale saying the exact same thing. The conclusion is that Anthony and James each bought half of the piece of property near Daniel's/White's Mill from Thomas and Catherine Price. A check of the records seems to show that this was the only land the Price's ever owned in Caroline County. The rest of there land was in Essex County. It appears that Thomas received this land in a land grant in 1736. I am checking on this as best I can since the deed records for that time have been destroyed. This also supports the assertion that Anthony and James father, Cornelius Sale, sold his 200 acres of land in Spotsylvania County ten months before he died and gave the money to Anthony and James, who witnessed the transaction, to purchase land closer to home. This is undoubtedly why neither of them received any land in his will. Notify Administrator about this message?
