Hi, Debbie --

This is a real shot in the dark but here goes. There was a Humphrey SALE born before 1767 who had a son named Joseph and Joseph had a son named Edmond SALE. I have very little on this line. Humphrey was son of Thomas SALE & Mary "Molly" BROOKE, according to the information I have, which either was given to me or I found on the Internet. Thomas & Mary lived in Essex Co, VA, part of which became Caroline Co. Thomas SALE was son of Cornelius SALE & Mary SAMUEL.

Edmond, son of Joseph, died 29 March 1851 or possibly 1857. Edmond also had a son named Joseph (for his father, I'd imagine). This younger Joseph was born 15 Oct. 1832 and died 1 May 1922 and was a Sergeant with the St. Louis City Police Dept. Joseph had a son named Walter S. SALE who was born 14 June 1894 and died in 1969. (Assuming the information I have is correct.) At most, this might provide a clue, but definitely would have to be checked out and verified.

I've collected some info on the SALE families in VA in an effort to discover if they tie in with my later SAYLE family so I don't even know yet if they're related to me at all. (Even if they are, this would not be my direct line.)

Good luck in your search!

Becky
