I'm sorry, I wish I had more concrete information about the Hawleys for you. But my focus was on the Sales family, Francis's sister, Elizabeth, to be exact. She was Margaret Sales' aunt. I remember seeing connections with Hawleys while searching census and deeds, etc, but didn't make written note of them.
If you are interested in what I have found on Francis and his parents, let me know and I will e-mail you with that.
That was very helpful to find out that Francis lived in Oswego County in 1820, as I was perplexed that I couldn't find him in Ontario County, where I figured he should be.
Also helpful was that John Sales (son of John and Hannah) settled in Oswego, because I lost him at Montgomery County after he married Catherine and had daughter Rachel. I did some searching on Oswego County last night and found the grave information, his children and their families in the censuses, and reference to Sayles Crossroads, obviously named after our family.
The John Sales referred to as the executor for "John Jr" was not his father, who died before 1830. It is probably his son, who only lived until the next year, or possibly another of the John Sales' of the next generation (there were lots of them).
Thanks for responding
