Hi Kathy,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I think there is no doubt that we are talking about the same Jacob Cronk and Elizabeth Sale even though Catharine Cronk's death certificate (b.11 Jan 1807; d.13 Mar 1883) in Kent County Michigan has her mother listed as Hanna. Jared Spring was my GG Grandfather.

Jared married Catharine on Sep 2,1828 in the East Bloomfield/Victor area in Ontario Co. New York. Jared's family lived in East Bloomfield during this period.

I have given up trying to figure out the descrepency of the mothers name on Catharine's death certificate as it may have been simply her mother's knickname or her middle name even though it was the proper name of her sister. I have found several occurances in the Kent County records where strange variations of peoples names are listed on the 'official records'.

It is my belief that Catharine and her family had come to the Victor area from Sophiasburgh, Prince Edward, Ontario, Canada. There are records regarding Jacob and family at this areas genealogy site (quite extensive). This is to the best of my knowledge Catharine's birthplace. Both Elizabeth and Hannah Sale are included in their data as well as Catharine and Jacobs brothers and sisters.

I realize that this would have been a "temporary" stop in Jacob's migration from eastern New York but may have been neccesary due to preferences for England during the war. I believe many of the Cronks were loyal to the Crown and found it prudent to relocate for a time to Canada where they where welcomed and given land. It is apparent that eventually Jacob ended up in Ontario Co., N.Y. later on, perhaps so they could meet up with the Sale family again.

It does not appear that any other Sale family members immigrated to this area but I have not researched this much. There were quite a few Sayles and Sales though.

I do not have a son, Jacob, attributed to Jacob and, as I have begun refering to her, Elizabeth "Hanna" Sale, but do have the following family information. I cannot verify it and it appears somewhat bazaar as two sets of twins are identified although it does seem to be supported from multiple sources.

Jacob Cronk (b.11 Jun 1771-Claverack,Columbia Co.,N.Y.;d.22 May 1844-Victor,Ontario Co.,N.Y.)
sp: Elizabeth "Hannah" Sale (Sayle) (b.1764;m.8 Jan 1792;d.Abt 1858-Victor,Ontario Co.,N.Y.)

Hanna Cronk (b.12 Dec 1792)
sp: Joel Scudder

Polly Cronk (b.12 Sep 1793)
sp: John Barnhart

Elizabeth (Betsy) Cronk (b.12 Sep 1793)
sp: Jacob Cronk

Aaron Cronk (b.1795)
sp: Catherine Milton

Elsie Cronk
sp: John Robens

John Cronk (b.1800)
sp: Sally Springsteen

James Cronk (b.17 May 1804)
sp: Lucinda van Brunt

Malina Cronk (b.17 May 1804)
sp: Preservia Bullock

Catharine Cronk (b.11 Jan 1807-Sophiasburgh,Prince Edward,Ontario,Canada;d.13 Mar 1883-Rockford,Kent Co.,Mich.)
sp: Jared S. Spring (b.23 Jul 1803-East Bloomfield,Ontario Co.,N.Y.;m.2 Sep 1828;d.30 Jul 1891-Cannon Twp.,Kent Co.,Mich.)
