I have the will of John Sales (formerly Johan Seels) from Ontario County, NY -- died by 1830. I have deeds for the Sales' properties in Victor, Ontario County. I have church records from the Dutch Church of Charleston (now Glen) Montgomery County, NY.
John Sales' wife is Hannah. His children are Francis (married Magdalene Powers), Peter (married Eve Showerman), John (married Catharine Pauter), Elizabeth (married Jacob Cronkhite), Jane (married Jacob Barnhart), Hannah (married John Cronkhite), and Sophia (married John Bowers).
There are no deeds at Montgomery County in the name of Sales, only for one Francis Saltz, who was an original settler (coming from Albany County in the 1760's) of Charleston (now Glen). I have some other information about him and his four daughters -- Sophia (married Philip Frederick), Elizabeth (married George Young), Anna Eva (married Peter Crush/Grosch), and a fourth (married McCready), but no information on any sons or brothers.
I have a marriage record for Francis Seels and Elizabeth Bartel -- 1746 Zion Lutheran Church, Loonenburg, Albany County, (now Greene) New York -- but they were actually married at Tarbush, Albany Co (now Columbia). She is the daughter of Andrew and Sophia Bartel . Also the baptism record for their daughter Sophia born there also in 1746.
And finally, John Sales, his wife, and children (all of the correct age brackets) are in the 1790 Hoosick, Albany County (now Renssalaer) census.
I am trying to connect these families. Does anyone have anything that might help?
