I just returned from a trip to Ontario County, New York, and found the will of John Sayle. It is very clear from this will that Hannah married John "Kronkhite" (Cronkhite) and Elizabeth married Jacob "Kronkhite". John Sayle's eldest daughter was Elizabeth, and his other children were Hannah (her mother's namesake), Sophia (married John Bower), Jane (married Jacob Barnhart), Francis (eldest son), John, and Peter. John Sayle's will was written in 1821 and refers to his sons-in-law except for Sophia who married later. John Sayle's will was filed 1833.

Jacob Cronkhite died in 1844 in Ontario County (no will, but a probate file exists because of a hassle with Elizabeth's dower inheritence). Jacob is my ancestor. I haven't determined what happened to John, but something may come up when I get through analyzing my material from my trip. Which Cronkhite is your ancestor?

Now then, unless your "Hannah and Jacob" notation is in error, they are a different Hannah and Jacob. Do you have any dates on these people?
