I am a great-great-great grandson of Julian Sale (b. 1816) and Mary Ann Tomlinson. There have been at least four generations since with a "Julian Sale" in the family. The second Julian was born in Peckham, Kent, England and married Marion Gordon Graham McCormick in Toronto in 1847 and founded the Julian Sale Leathergoods Company in Toronto. He died in Pasadena, California at 97 years. One of their six children was my grandfather, Gordon Nicholson Sale who died as an officer in the Canadian army at the Battle of Courcellete (Somme), 26 September 1916. Douglas Julian Sale, the much decorated Canadian pathfinder pilot, was his nephew. Julian's brother Howard was also in the military during WW II. Howard's three daughters all have Julian as a second name as does his son, Howard Julian Sale, Jr.
