Sale from Italy

Iím researching my great-great-great grandfather, Domingo (?Dominico) SALE or SALI (Salis in later generations). Domingo is said to have been born in Italy. I'm exploring the possibility that he and his wife, Isabel NEGRI or MAGRI from France, left Europe in the late 1700s or early 1800s and eventually settled in or near Santiago de Cuba. In 1851, one of their sons, who was born in Cuba, married in Santiago de Cuba. The names Salis, Sale, and Sali all occur in Italy. Today, the names Salis and Sale are especially concentrated in the island of Sardinia, in northwest Italy (Lombardy and Piedmont), and in Rome; the name Sali is concentrated in northwest Italy and in Rome.

Is anyone here researching the Sale or Sali or Salis name in Italy? I would very much like to share information.
