From The Sale Tree in America, here is what is noted about Cornelius A. Sale, sixth child of John Sale and Frances Sanders:

Cornelius, b. Mar. 29, 1773. Served in the war of 1812. Never married and at his death was quite will-to-do. Descendants of his slaves who had taken the name Sale were still in Amherst Co. a few years ago.
