Lewis Sale-Louisville, Ky. mid-late 1800

I am trying to find any information on Lewis Sale of Louisville, Ky. Lewis had 7 sons and 1 daughter. The daughter died of scarlet fever around the age of 7. Lewis was so distraught he left and lived in the woods for 6 years. His wife divorced him and he later married a german girl (possibly named Knobenshoe) and they had 1 son 2 years later named Lewis. He was born 2-1-1895. Lewis the elder was being raised (for reasons unknown) by his grandparents. They were killed in a carriage accident. He was then taken in by g-grandparents. They were English and Indian. It is assumed he learned his survival skills from his Indian g-grandfather. Any information on either Lewis of the siblings of Lewis the younger would be greatly appreciated. There could also be a family connection somewhere named O.L. Smith also from Louisville. I have a piece of family memorabelia with this name engraved on it and was told it belonged to a grandfather somewhere down the line.

Thanks for any help,
