Hi Gilbert:

I would try to get his Social Security application which will supply you information about his parents and county. You have his DOD which is April 26, 1967 so I'm sure he had a SS card. You can go to roots web or SSDI (Social Security Card Index) and put in his name and see if you come up with this date or you can write the Social Security office. Also you can try to find an obituary in the local newspaper of LA; I find good info in obituaries. You can also get his death certificate which will tell you more information and especially want name he used. You have a DOD and at least that is a start. Also try to find his family in the 1910, 1920 and 1930 census.

Good luck!
