Hector de Salazar, chevalier, conseiller et chambellan du roi,capitaine de cinquante hommes d'armes, gouverneur et bailli de l'Auxerrois, seigneur et baron de saint-Just, Courson,Coulange-la-Vineuse,Clesle, Bagneux et Sauvage, Mourut en 1502 et fut inhume dans le choeur de l'eglise de Saint-Just, pres de Macheret.
Above is an extract from the Bulletin of the archaelogical society of Sens, published in 1894.
Hector was the eldest son of Jean de salazar, a Spaniard of noble extraction who came to France at the head of a band of mercenaries. At the battle of Monthlery Jean had the good fortune of saving Louis XI's life. He was made Chamberlin by the king. Hectors brothers were:-
Lancelot de Sallazar Lord of Marcilly. d.1515
Tristan de Salazar. Archbishop of Sens.
Galleas de Salazar.Lord of Lias. d 1539
This is the only record I have of a Hector de Salazar, I know of no other Salazar called Hector de Salazar so am interested to know where you managed to get his wifes name if is the same Hector.
