Hi Annette,
I am a direct descendant of Ernest Alfred Saker, he was my great grandfather. He married Beatrice Ann Harrison. They had several children, one of whom was Alfred Ernest Saker - my grandad. He married Gwen (don't have all the details here available as I am at work, but will get back on the trail this evening - also have a photograph of Ernest Alfred and Beatrice Ann on my mantlepiece)
They had 2 sons, John Alfred and Brian Ernest. Gwen was killed in 1944 during WW2 - Alfred was a warden during the war - John Alfred was training to fly in Canada, and my father Brian was evacuated at the time.My father is the only member of this family group still alive, but there are 5 of us "kids", and then 8 grand-chlidren (none of mine yet).
Also have a great many papers and documents from the last century relating to the Saker family, it just takes time posting them all together.
Alfred Saker of the Cameroons did not have any surviving sons and so cannot be directly linked to this branch, but I believe that he was an uncle many years back. This family originated from Borough Green in Kent and were a large family of millrites and engineers.
Hope that this is of some use,
Don't know if you have any other information to hand, but I would be most interested.
Please feel free to e-mail directly.
Many Thanks & good luck,
Anna
