Here are my thoughts about the children.
The couple state they have been married 11 years. That would be either 1888 or 1889 depending on the month they married in. The census was enumerated in June, so Robert would be 12 in August. It APPEARS he is the only child in question as to who his mother was, but it is really close isn't it? Bettie has had 5 children, so we know 4 of them: Minnie Jones, ? Huron Jones, Westley (Wesley) Saint and William Saint. Either Bettie had another Jones child who had already gone out on his/her own, or the dates are a little off and Robert is her child. I nearly tend to think having the twins might have been the cause of Lucinda's death.
Do you know the exact date when Robert died in 1967 and where? He might have had an obituary that would give his mother's name.
Also, here is a link for ordering inexpensive Alabama Death Certificates. Perhaps ordering it would settle the matter?
Good luck with your research....Pauline
