Hi Jamie,
It appears that you are just starting out in the discovery of your family history.
One thing that I teach is to work from where you are now and go backwards - you are doing that - good. Another thing is to make sure that you can identify with a certain period - we are talking dates here. For example: when and where was your grandfather born, lived and died (if those apply).
Because of privacy and legal issues it is harder to find information on those in your family within the last hundred years. So you will have to rely on living family members and their memories. But it is a beginning.
One of my students came into class with a real tough problem - he said that no one knew what his grandfather's name was - everyone living always called him grandpa. See what I mean?
Now, go back to the drawing boards and add any kind of information you can to what you have. Then post again with things that people can help you with.
