Seeking information on any descendents of the Sage family of Menands (Albany) N.Y. who were direct descendants of Henry W. Sage (1814-1897) and his wife Susan Linn Sage (1819-1885). Henry W. and Susan Linn had two sons; Dean, born in 1841 and William Henry, born in 1844. Henry W. Sage established a lumbering company in the mid 1800's principally in Michigan and Canada, and shipped sawn lumber over the Great Lakes and through the Erie Canal into Albany, N.Y. Henry M. Sage (son of Dean) married Cornelia McClure Cogswell. Henry was also in lumbering and became a New York State Senator. Henry M. and Cornelia Sage owned a large estate in the Village of Menands and in South Carolina. Henry M. died in 1934 and his wife in 1973. Henry W. and Susan Linn Sage are buried in the Sage Chapel at Cornell University. Dean and his family and Henry M. and Cornelia are buried in the Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands. Dean Sage Sr. established a fishing camp on the Restigouche River in New Brunswick, Canada. The Camp Harmony Angling Club is still in operation. Any information or surviving relatives of the Sage family of Menands (Albany) N.Y. please contact Kevin Franklin, Historian of the Town of Colonie at the e-mail address of this posting. Thanks Very Much.
