Samuel & Mary (Ayrault) Sage's Son, David Sage

Samuel Sage, b. Middletown, CT, 1763, was the son of Samuel & Prudence (Hulbert) Sage and the grandson of Nathaniel & Rebecca (Hart) Sage. He m. Mary Ayrault, the daughter of James & Abigail (Kilborn) Ayrault.

Although Smith, in his Vital Records of Sandisfield, MA, apparently lists nine children for Samuel & Mary (Ayrault) Sage, this Family Group of Mary (Ayrault) Sage includes 10 children born between 1788 and 1807, but makes no mention of a son, David Sage, born in 1790:

There is some circumstantial evidence that this David Sage, who married Hannah Macomber [a daughter of John & Philadelphia (Harrington) Macomber], was a son of Samuel & Mary (Ayrault) Sage, the major one being the fact that Allen Sage married Cynthia Macomber, also a daughter of John & Philadelphia (Harrington) Macomber. The Sages, Macombers, & Harringtons were all found in Ashtabula Co., OH, in the early 1800's.

I've identified the household of David Sage in Venango, Erie Co., PA, in 1820, and in Monroe, Ashtabula Co., OH, in 1830. David died in Ashtabula Co., OH, between 1830 & 1840, and his widow, Hannah, was enumerated as head of household in Richmond, Ashtabula Co., OH, in 1840, and in Dorset, Ashtabula Co., OH, in 1850.

This couple had numerous children who lived in Ashtabula Co., OH, among them a daughter, Cynthia (obviously named for her aunt, Cynthia Macomber!), who m. Lot Abraham Brower, the son of Abraham & Philotha (Webster) Brower, in 1846.
