I have a document written by Elsie Saffley Remiers that states that the John Safley who married Margaret Tipton was born c. 1765 and married Margaret in 1791.If your statment was correct, then Henry would have been a father at age 6...It is possible that the John Safley that married Margaret was Henry's brother, both the sons of Valentine Saufley of PA, but at this point we have no proof of this.
However, Henry Safley *did* have a son named John, but much later than the John Safley that married Margaret Tipton and moved to Montgomery County, KY.
My father-in-law is Richard Saffley, who is descended through John Safley's youngest son, Andrew Jackson Saffley.
If you have records indicating other than I have mentioned, then I am *greatly* interested in them!!I am attempting to determine who is the father and mother of John Safley (m. Margaret Tipton), which up to this point has eluded a lot of researchers.
Do your records indicate Scotch/Irish descent, or German?
Thanks!
