Elizabeth,

Most everything I have found about William's wife gives her name as Nancy Mary Sadler. Here is how I think I am related to William and Mary: My oldest known ancestor is Robert Fleming b. 1800 in GA. He moved and later died in MS. In the 1880 census both he and his brother Hiram gave MD as the birth place for both of their parents. From everything we can find this limits Robert's father to either William or his brother, Robert b. 1759. Both were born in MD and moved to GA during the correct time frame. Robert's wife apparently was born in Ireland according to one census. That means that if Nancy Mary Sadler was born in MD, she would logically be the correct mother and William b. 1761,the correct father. So as you can see I cannot definitively say that William was my Robert's father. But if I could verify Mary as being born in MD, it would strengthen the case for William.

Of Course even censuses can be inaccurate. But I try to rely on them until evidence weighs heavily against them. My email address is johnbb492000@yahoo.com if you would like to communicate directly.

John Fleming
