Today I've found that Thomas Sackville and his wife Elizabeth Darel had the following sons, all born in France:
Edward, born 1702
Charles Lawrence, born 1703
Thomas Richard, born 1704
William, born 1705
Richard Michael, born 1706 but died in the same year.
Ironically, if the officer in the French army was one of the above then he'd have been distantly related to the Lord Sackville who was wounded fighting in the British army that day.
If you have any information that will either eliminate some of these men from my enquiries, or indicate who the officer was, please get in touch. Thanks.
