BACKESTO CEMETERY
located 2 miles north of Berne, Indiana on U. S. 27, and 3 1/4 miles east in Monroe Township, Adams County, R.R. 2, Berne, Ind. This is a Free Burial Cemetery, originated by a man named Backesto. Will Stauffer donated the proceeds of his farm for its upkeep. This cemetery is near Springfield Methodist Church.

Benjamin Reeder, d July 16, 1851, Age 29 y 3 m 12 d

Could Benjamin and Mary Sackett have made it this far? I know that she and Samuel Eley were in Greene Co, OH in 1860..

1850 United States Federal Census
Name: Berry Reeder Age: 28 Estimated birth year: abt 1822
Birth place: Ohio Gender: Male Home in 1850
(City,County,State): Washington, Montgomery, Ohio

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the husband of Mary Sackett. She married a Samuel Eley(Ely) about 1853 and was living in Greene Co, OH in 1860 but they moved to Adams Co, IN before 1870. They were listed in that 1870 census.

Luticia is their daughter. It is just listed backwards with M(ary) & B(enjamin) buried in Backesto Cem.

What is really interesting is that there is another female Reeder in Adams Co, IN

Joseph Pogue/Martha Reeder. Martha (October 24, 1847) is the dau of John Saxton Reeder/Letitia P. Pownall.

They and their children are all buried in Backesto Cem.
