It has now been confirmed, through an additional test (reduced rate at $50) that my haplogroup is in fact G (M201). Bennett Greenspan of Family Tree DNA says, "Likely Gs are part of the 'Hebrews' of old and have been part of the Jewish Genetic Gene Pool for 3,000 years." Finding out things like this and also making family history guesses from "recent ethnic origin" reports from people who are near genetic matches is very intriguing, even if you have no great interest in locating more recent cousins.
