Lived in Lithuania until about 1882. Essor was a Talmudic scholar. Said to have begun a cigar business in Philadelphia with the Buyak Brothers that later became Phillies Cigars. Said to have been involved with Dropsie College in Philadelphia. Wife was Etta. Children were Rachel, Ida, Ben, Harry, Bessie and Carl. Rae and Ida later moved to South Africa. Harry and Carl were lawyers. Essor could be spelled Esor or Esser or Israel.
