My grandfather, Moses Saban, was born in Damascus, Syria around 1905. He emigrated to Buenos Aires, Argentina when he was ten years old. I was born in Buenos Aires in 1969 and in the same year my parents emigrated to the U.S.
I am a Sephardic Jew whos ancestors left Spain for North African and Middle Eastern countries during the Spanish Inquisition. During the middle to late 1800's Argentina 'opened its doors' and Spanish speaking Jews left the Middle East and settled there.
I have met a few Yugoslavians and Turks that have the first name Saban.
All for now.
