Ryerson information: 1600 - 1924

I have just finished reading "Looking Backward" by George Sterling Ryerson, founder of the Canadian Red Cross. It is published by Ryerson Press, Toronto, 1924. The copy I am reading came from McGill University, and I accessed it from my local university through their interlibrary loan.

This book has a lot of genealogical information for Ryerson families. The author talks about the earliest family records, the family connection to the Dutch Netherlands, discusses the arrival of two brothers in New Amsterdam (later New York), and how the Canadian Ryerson's came to be. Various lineages are also discussed.

Although I am not related to the Ryerson family, I have done genealogical searches of my own, and realize what a great resource this book is.
