I have been reading "Looking Backward" by George Sterling Ryerson (Toronto: Ryerson Press, 1924). It is his autobiography. The first couple of chapters is filled with geneolgocial information, and would be of interest to anyone tracing their Ryerson family tree.

This family starts in 1600 Netherlands (Dutch Hugenot) and comes to the united states (New Amsterdam - aka New York)as two brothers Martin and Adrian in 1647. Following the American Revolution in 1775, several of the male Ryerson's were forced to emigrate to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick (Maugerville).

If this book is of interest to you, and you cannot find it locally, perhaps your local library or university can get it for you. The copy I am currently using is from McGill University Library, and will be returned to them shortly. I got this copy through my local university library's RACER(interlibrary loan) service.
