Ryan>Bourke of Leavenworth city, Co., Ks 1862
The Wells and Michael Bourke I think came in at Mobile Al ca 1849 and migrated to Leavenworth Ks area ca 1860.
WELLS; not sure at this date which they are Bourke/Wells or Ryan/Wells. They too live in Easton and Leavenworth Ks. Back when it was Kickapoo Twp. 1860. My GGrandfather Michael Bourke married first Margaret Ryan. She died ca 1860/1 no issue. He then married May 24th, 1867 her sister Catharine Ryan in The Church of the Immaculate Conception. In Leavenworth City, Co., KsCatharine & Margaret Ryan came
to this county in 1849 as indentured children, land at Boston Ma. Where they were untill Kansas, unknown.
I am descended from their first son Michael William Bourke and Ada Evelena Dunn. Catharine Ryan had a son before she married Michael Bourke, named James Handrahan. Who is burried as James Bourke at their feet. I need toget him a Tombstone. As his brothers failed to pay for his funeral. And the only marker was a small aluminue stake. Which I don't know if it is still there? John and Mary B. Wells ARE RELATED. AS I HAVE THE AUTOGRAPH ALBUM OF Margaret J. Bourke. Their only daughter. And the Wells are burried in the same cemetery; St Joseph of the Valley in Easton. Or out side Easton I should say. There descendants are still living in the area. One on the original 1862 Homestead. Info from them was promised some yrs ago. But after I gave them what I had. I got nothing. So... All our stuff from the mid to late 1800s was SOLD AT AUCTION by a 2ed cousin, since decd in 2002. I got some papers, but all else went, even though I called about the pictures; and what did he want for them. I had another cousin who went to the FARM AUCTION, but she was afraid to spend to much of my money. So our family pictures are hanging on SOMEONE elses walls. Why you would want someone elses ANCESTORS hanging on your walls I will never understand. My line is the only one survives from their 4ea children. All others are decd.
