My gr.gr.grandfather's autobiography contains several paragraphs about his father's "Irish hired man," Michael Ryan. Michael emigrated from Ireland in 1849 or 1850 when he was about fourteen years old. He worked for the Hewitt family in Pomfret, VT for several years before moving to Stockton, CA where he became "a prosperous livery man."

If you would like more information on Michael Ryan or his sister Katherine, please contact me at jklb66atyahoodotcom.
