Suggest you contact the diocese for NYC for copies of their marriage cert. This usually lists their ages, parents' names and sometimes origins. You will need this info to search Ireland.
I searched the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,000,000 surviving rcds for abt 65% of Irish counties. Rcds are increasingly sparse B4 1840, rare B4 1800. Note - without a county or parish name, there is AT LEAST a 35% chance that your ancestors' rcds aren't in this database.
For Pat(rick) Ryan B 1809 +/- 4 yrs in all Ireland with a father named ????, I found 103 B rcds.
Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
