I searched the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,000,000 surviving rcds for abt 65% of Irish counties. Rcds are increasingly sparse B4 1840, rare B4 1800.
Patrick likely left Ireland during the potato famine (1845-1850).
For Michael Ryan B 1827 (exact) in Co. Tipperary, I found 7 B rcds in Tipperary north and 4 B rcds in Tipperary south. Note - a large portion of Tipperary rcds have been retained by the RC Church and are only available through the Tipperary Family History Research center. One of these B rcds may be for your ancestor. A view of the detailed B rcd SHOULD show the parents' names. If you know his parents' name(s), or a place name, this can be used to verify the rcd.
Without a maiden name for Catherine, it is impractical to search Co. Louth. Suggest you search the U.S. for marriage rcds. These should list their parents' names.
Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
