Emily Delia Rutter was the child of Joseph George Rutter, a baptist preacher and evangelist. He is in the 1850 Missouri Census in Scott County, in the 1860 Census in Crawford County and in the 1870 and 1880 census in Washington County, Missouri. He started or helped to start numerous churches. He was reported to have led some 3000 souls to Christ during his ministry. I have not yet determined his father, but suspected that it was William Rutter who married Martha Mary Grundy. They were married in Washington County, KY. I found a women that I think is Martha Mary in the census of Scott County in 1850....but no William. She lived near Joseph....
Please let me know in what county you have the deed record. That holds a valuable key>>>>Let's share...This is my husband's line. He is also a baptist preacher and we want to really study this line. I also have info on the Grundy line. In 1840 William and Joseph were in Hickman County, KY. Edmund Rutter was the brother of William and I think William followed Edmund to Missouri. I have the will that states all of the Rutter children including William. I don't have that in front of me but I believe their father was James of Washington and Livingston counties in KY......in Virginia before that...I just haven't been able to prove Joseph as the son of William.Where are you?...Let's write back and forth.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
