Most interesting to me on the town of Rutten in Belgium. My ancestors lived in Kessel/Niers. One ancestor, Johann Stoffelen married a Chrisstina Rutten in January 1756 in St. Stephanus Catholic Church in Kessel. Their son Gerhardus was born Aug 29, 1766 and married Johanna Petronella Reintjes also of Kessel. Their son, my great, great grandfather Johannes Heinrich Stoffelen(Stoffels) was born March 9, 1803 in Hommersom, Holland and died in America on July 221, 1864 in the state of Wisconsin. His sister Theodora married a Jacob Peters from Limburg. They also came to USA in 1858. Other ancestor surnames from the Netherlands: Van Den Berg, Jaspers, Melzen, Van Eyck, Gossens, Van Wickeren, Jansen, Coenen, Hoenselaers, Tonnissen, Wolters, Holtermans. At the time of my gr/gr/grfa's family immigration they lived in Hommersum/Appledorn areas. Much of my information is the result of a descendant of Theodora Stoffelen Peters who contacted a genealogist in Germany. Any interested descendant of these surnames can reach me through the message board. M. Kuhl
